Pastel Painting 2-Day Workshop

This workshop will explore using soft pastel as a painting medium to create traditional artwork with personal expression.  The emphasis will be on the landscape or still life as the student desires. The student will choose the subject matter. Strategies for creating a successful painting will be discussed.  Various techniques in the creation of an under-painting or “toned ground” will be demonstrated including the use of wet media. Technique using both hard and soft pastel will be explored. There will be demonstrations and individual attention. Questions? Call Pam at  (317) 842-5513. Pastel Painting 7-Week Workshop

This workshop will explore using soft pastel as a painting medium to create traditional artwork with personal expression.  The emphasis will be on the landscape or still life as the student desires. The student will choose the subject matter.  Composition, focal point, value, color, mass and line will be explored.  Selection of subject matter will be discussed including elements that create a successful painting. Various techniques in the creation of an under-painting or “toned ground” will be demonstrated including the use of wet media. Technique using both hard and soft pastel will be explored. Differences in pastel painting surfaces will be discussed. There will be individual critiques and group critiques as the student desires. There will be demonstrations and individual attention.
