"Crimson Roses" was inspired by a plein air painting done in Brittany, France. It was a joyful experience to paint in the gardens of the abbey - Jardin d Abbaye at Saint-Jacut-de-la. Mer. The abbey and its gardens was a former Benedictine monastery and is now a retreat center. It is located on a thin peninsula surrounded by the sea in northern France. The garden was well tended peaceful, full of color and bathed by sea breezes. The tides were gentle, fast and retreated to a distance of around three miles, where there were mussel farms.
Presented in a wide dark frame with an inner gold fillet.
