Morning Has Broken

Last summer I stayed with friends at a cottage on lake Papakeechie for the Wawasee Paint Out. We are grateful to our host and artist friend, who generously opened her cottage to us once again.
This painting is a view of a small island across from the cottage at daybreak. Morning mist was lifting. Beams of sunlight lit the water and a single tree. In the distance a pair of swans were gliding towards the island. The stillness was only broken by birdsong. "Morning Has Broken" 9" x 12" pastel.
